Vitamin D Health Secrets - it's the Sunlight Vitamin!
Time to discover some Vitamin D health facts.
Vitamin D is found in only a few foods as most of what we require is received through sunlight. This vitamin forms under the skin as a reaction to it and the best source is through summer sunlight. All the vitamin D required for the day can be obtained through as little as 10 minutes in the sun and this can be achieved even when wearing sun block - which I recommend year round.
Foods containing this vitamin include oily fish, eggs and fortified foods such as cereals, powdered milk and margarine. Although it's not thought of as one of the greats with regard to staying young and pretty, it is necessary, as with all vitamins, to make sure you don't go without. A deficiency can lead to diseases including rickets and multiple sclerosis.
Do I need to take this vitamin as a supplement?
Probably not, unless one of the following applies to you:
you live in a cold climate
you almost never go out in the sun
you don't eat oily fish, margarine and fortified cereals
Remember, the sun provides us with a lot of this vitamin.
