The skin around the eye area is very thin and delicate. A separate eye cream especially designed for this delicate area is a must. I don’t want to negate all my hard work and effort (ok, it’s not hard work or effort at all, but I’ve put a lot of thought into it!) in using only non chemical products for my face and eyes, by using a heavy chemical cream which is designed for the body anyway, unless you have bought a cream which specifically says it’s for the face.
Luckily for you, I have found the perfect eye cream and I doubt I’ll ever need to look further.
Clarins Sun Wrinkle Control Eye Care – High Protection
Let's have a look at the advantages:
It has UVA and UVB 30 - not quite as high as their face cream, but high enough, and you should be using sunglasses anyway!
It has 100% mineral filters - perfect!
There is no need to use much, and just as with the face protection, it will go on over your eye cream (or oil) and under foundation or concealer. As long as you leave a few minutes after application, it works perfectly well under make up. I usually start my first coat of mascara whilst the eye protection cream is settling. As with all jobs to do with the eye area, you gently pat the cream in with your ring finger. You don’t pull, drag or stretch the delicate area of your eye (or face for that matter). Skin, especially the eye area has only a limited amount of natural give and if you must keep dragging your facial skin away from it’s natural location, one day it’s going to decide it prefers it there and stay!!
This eye cream costs about £16.00 in the UK but my tube always lasts me about 5 or 6 months. When you consider the cost per wear, well, you couldn’t buy a weekly magazine for less!
As with all mineral creams, the added bonus is that you don’t have to apply it 20 minutes before sun exposure. Chemical creams need time to delve deep into the skin to work the way they do. Mineral creams like this eye protection and the Clarin's face protection, work by sitting on top of the skin and reflecting the sun’s rays away. I was reluctant to try this method at first, as I couldn’t see how it would work effectively, especially as it was so gentle and as I burn and turn red very easily, but I’m glad I did.
I have been suggesting these Clarins sun protection creams as a total miracle and to me they are but there is one thing that they can’t do for you. And it’s probably the most common problem out there regarding sun protection. Even Clarins have their limits. And that limitation is this....
No sun cream will ever work for you when you leave it on the bathroom shelf.
If you want to retain your youthful looks for as long as you can then you must put your cream on! If you don't think this is worth mentioning, just ask yourself how many opened containers of vitamins are on your shelf at the moment!!
